Zoo Trip

My kids are on spring break and we took a trip to the zoo.  They were a little shy about me posting pictures of them, but the critters were a little more cooperative !!

"Peace" 2009 from Sue Hillis Designs

I stitched another lovely from the 2009 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Issue.  I made several changes to the look of the ornament but kept the same basic design.  I added a variety of buttons and some beads; and of course I went with color (DMC 801 and 3721).  I love how quaint it turned out.

And one thing that was great about this design: You get a lot of look with a fairly quick stitch !!

"Pear Tree" LHN Ornament

Little House Needleworks has certainly outdone themselves with these wonderful monthly Christmas Ornament designs.  I have finally completed the stitch work for my "Pear Tree" Ornament.   I used 32 count raw linen - and just for fun - I switched the color of the beads to red.

When the holidays roll around, I will be decorating my tree with burgundy and gold balls and all of the ornaments I can get stitched.  This is the first time I have made cross stitch ornaments so I have a lot of work to do !!! Looking forward to seeing the final results.
I hope everyone is enjoying all this stitching fun
Take care,
Patty

Jewelry Box Redo

I figure most of us have one of those Christmas special jewelry box gifts lying around.  I decided to redo an old one I had and make a sewing center out of it. I haven't decided what I want to stitch for the front yet - It is about a 4 3/8" high and 5 3/8" wide.  I thought something Quaker might be nice.

My Sewing wallet fits perfectly on top:
My pin cushion rests nicely on the inside:
(I don't have a mini bottle cap pin cushion yet.
I'm sure that would be a perfect fit !!)

Great place for scissors:
Easy to find buttons:
 And more buttons -
(There are never enough buttons. )

Wouldn't this make a lovely gift !!

Great Gift

My daughter (still shy about letting me post about her) finally consented to letting me post a picture of the little vase she brought home from school today.  She hand made this little gift all by herself.  I found it perfect for storing scissors.

Lovely isn't it !!!!!

Bunny Needle Case

I've started back to work after a wonderful vacation therefore my stitching time has been limited.  I did manage to put together a fun little project.  This needle case is made from 28 count raw linen using a freebie bunny pattern from  http://matryoshkabiscornue.blogspot.com/  I added the flowers & the border to the design.

"Winter Sampler"

Here's a lovely Little House Needleworks Design from the Just Cross Stitch Magazine 2009 Special Christmas Ornaments Issue.

Turtle Dove

This is a beautiful design from Courtney Collection found in the Just Cross Stitch Magazine 2008 Special Christmas Issue.  It is stitched entirely in one thread color (DMC 902) on 40 count Raw Linen.  Quite a tedious stitch, but very satisfying to complete.

Pine Cones

I know I've seen pine cones used for all kinds of projects. I've seen them spray painted gold for Christmas to fill baskets.  Holiday wreaths are often embellished with them, & Potpourri is truly enhanced by them.  Birds enjoy them filled with peanut butter & seed in summer (and I must admit I enjoy watching the birds) - But have you ever noticed how pretty they are just as nature intended them to be?

Don't you agree?
Happy Stitching & enjoy those breaks in between !!!

Scissor Fob Freebie

I spent some time looking for new freebies yesterday.  I came across a wonderful heart freebie from Alexandrina from Matrioshka Biscornu.  I stitched it over 1 on 30 count 18th Century brown linen & then made a scissor fob out of it.  What a fun stitch. Thank you Alexandrina

Fa La La Complete

Fa La lately I've been stitching my Christmas ornaments and I have finally completed my LHN Fa La La design.
I haven't finished the ornament but the stitch work is all done and I'm ready to go.  Here's a quick look.
I used 18th century brown 30 count linen. I like how the color of the linen makes the threads stitched really stand out. Gentle Art Raspberry Parfait (0380) was used in place of  DMC 221 and Gentle Art Dried Thyme (0110) for DMC 3052.  This is the first time I've used variegated floss.  I certainly like the results.  I find it fun to stitch with as well. I also used lazy daisy stitch for the mouth instead of french knots to give my girls the gift of gab!!  I think that is always a plus.

Happy Stitching

"Fa La La" Little House Needle Works Ornament

I purchased my "Fa La La" LHN pattern yesterday and am ready to start.  I chose a darker linen , 18th century brown, and am thinking of using some Gentle arts Floss - Rasberry Parfait and Dried Thyme as substitutes.  I'm anxious to see how it turns out. Can't wait to get started so Happy Stitching for now !!!
