Game Invitation :)

I was invited to participate in a game by Lenka at Lenocka's Little World.   I am supposed to choose the 10th photo on my computer post it and say something about it. Here goes :)

Before my husband and I owned our house (many years ago -cough , cough - I'm so sorry you couldn't hear how long ago that was :) ) we lived in an apartment. I decided to spruce up the place and plant some roses and beautiful flowers around the entry way to our particular unit.  We were on the ground floor so all of those who rented the units on the upper levels had to pass my lovely planters and all of the flowers I planted around the entry way.  It looked wonderful.  I received many compliments and thank you comments from all of my neighbors.

All was well until I came home one day and all of my garden was mowed down.  Oh my goodness, I was heart broken and couldn't believe how destructive and wasteful it was to do such a thing.  I'm sure it wasn't intentional - someone was probably just working on the grounds - landscaping or something - but I was still distraught.

My husband told me that day that when we were able to buy our house he would build me a beautiful garden and no one would be able to disturb it.  He was true to his word.  In our first home this is the photo of the stones he made to go through a trellis that he built from scratch for me.  He carved our names into the stones.   He also made a heart shaped planter in the center of the front yard for all to see.  He certainly knocked himself out with his effort to replace my loss.

There is one thing that is certain. The heart in the front yard is filled with lovely flowers of all colors shapes and sizes but they aren't half as lovely as the joy that filled my heart with his efforts.

We should always remember to enjoy what at times seem to be the little things in life, because one day we will find they are usually what mattered the most :)

Take care

Flower Frog :)

I finally found a flower frog - it's a small one so I placed it in another crystal bowl that I saved from my wedding.  It works perfectly :)

Mini Pin Cushion

I think Faye at Carolina Stitcher started something with her Wonderful Blogaversary Giveaway (5/30/2010).
I have gone mini pin cushion crazy :) This is the first time I have hand sewn an edge.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and I definitely like the look.  I too will be digging out more freebies.

Hedgehog Pincushion

This idea just cracks me up.  This is my first (and most likely my last lol) attempt at one of these critters.  I found the pattern for this particular hedgie at Urban Debris.  Fun to make, but I can't imagine anyone would need too many of these :) Notice I tried to make mine "girly" - pink pins, pink ribbon, and pink blush on the cheeks :)

Apparently I have too much time on my hands today

"Love Is In The Air"

This is my second Blackbird Designs February stocking.  These are so easy to make.  I have been stitching the design with recommended threads and then using my new sewing machine  to finish.  It makes it go really quickly.  I think they are just adorable - I will definitely be buying more patterns.

Another Snowman Ornament

This Ornament is stitched with 6 strands of DMC (white, 310, and 720) on Natural Burlap. I took the snowman portion of a design and added some buttons, ribbon, and bells.  Take a look:

Kiss For Baby Freebie

I stitched this Christmas Ornament freebie from San-Man Originals because I just love snowmen.  I am trying to think of something different to do for my snowman noses - any ideas?
I'll update the photo as I figure out what I want to use :) I may just buy buttons.

Miniature Pin Cushion

This pin cushion is stitched on 40 count linen over one thread. It is a little over 1 1/2 inches square.  It's not a small its a "tiny" - lol

Another favorite color - White :)

Sometimes things are so subtly beautiful that they are overlooked - white - crisp - clean - understated - yet so lovely :)

And it goes so well with any color - especially green :)

I hope you all have enjoyed my gardening photos

Color of the Week

I think I will choose Yellow as my favorite color this week.
Do you want to know why?

That's Why :)

P.S.
To all of you asking about the Christmas tree Design from the previous post:
It is a Sue Hillis Design from the 2009 Just Cross Stitch Magazine Special Christmas Issue.  It is called "Peace 2009"  I agree it is a lovely design.

Tralala Petit Chat Freebie

I'll admit I haven't purchased the trim for the pin keep yet, but it is all stitched and already mounted.  I stitched it on 32 count natural linen using raspberry parfait. The freebie can be found here.

Christmas Stocking

This is a finished Christmas Stocking from Blackbird Designs.  This particular stocking comes from the three stockings for February leaflet entitled "Love Is In The Air".  I used some left over Gentle Art Dried Thyme (0110) to stitch the pattern on 30 count Irish Creme linen.  It was a very quick stitch so I'll be making more of these for our tree :).

I finally mounted my ornaments

My ornaments are finally mounted on mat board but I am having trouble deciding on the trim.
I 'll just keep stitching until something appeals to me :)
